As Small As An Elephant

Pages: 77-120
Prompt:What was going through your mind as you read?

What was going through my mind as I read?  Well here was my general thought *Ahem* "Oh my god dude!  Why would you do that!  Are you really that stupid?"  He makes all these stupid moves like breaking things, lying, and stealing.  And all in the same town! "Are you kidding me?!  You are one step away from being caught!"

One of these moments was when he totally was an idiot and broke his phone.  He was going for a swim with the family he had just met, and he forgot his phone was in his pocket.  He was in the water fot at LEAST half an hour.  So then when he got out and went to the bathroom to try and call his mom, he discovered the truth about where his phone was.  In.  His.  Pocket.  Jack started to panic and then he remembered how there was a little tag on the back that would tell him if the battery could be saved.  Red means bad.  That's just what he got.  The battery was gone.

Another stupid moment was when he started to pick a bunch of vegetables when a woman was hanging up her clothes.  He even started eating it right in front of her.  He started eating right in front of her to.  He even started lying about what he was doing when she caught him.  He said he was training, and when the lady gave him a chance for food after he was done delivering food to the food pantry, he thought of eating it all for himself.

Hidden Talents

Pages 32-63
Prompt:Write a paragraph describing the setting

Well the setting is close to that of a prison.  It has big iron gates with letters across the top(which escapes me about what it spells)  You have to take a bus to get there and once you do, you get escorted inside.  Once inside there are class rooms and dorm rooms.  The class rooms are well light but have a little but of a yellow tinge of all the lights.  The windows have iron bars all over them.  Everything is done to reform the students.  All the mail goes to this one kid first and if there is something he wants, he gets it.t

As Small As An Elephant

****SPOILERS****

Pages: 20-52
Prompt: Tell me about the main character. What kind of person is he/she?

There are a lot of ways to describe the main character Jack.  For one I think he is adventurous.  When his mom goes missing,  he decides to have a look around town.  When he doesn't find her there, he looks around places he and him mom visited along the way to the campgrounds.  Then at night he decided to sleep in the woods nearby to avoid unwanted attention, and more money loss.

I also think he is a friendly person.  When he goes looking for his mom at the beach, he befriends a young child, Aiden, and his family.  Later on in the book the family invites him to go with them to a lake outing and he accepts to go with them.  Aiden really seems to like Jack so Aiden's mom decides to put her trust in him to.  She even wants to check um on Jack's "ill' mother.

I also think of him as deceiving.  He tells a lie to Aiden's whole family saying that his mom is sick and does not want to be bothered to keep them from finding out his mom was gone.  Whenever they notice that Jack's mom is gone "again"  he makes an excuse saying that she went to get food, medicine, and other stuff like that.  She never seems to be at the tent when Aiden's family asks about her.  She always seems (conveniently for Jack to help keep people from finding out) to be gone.

As Small As An Elephant

Prompt: What do you think will happen next?
Pages: Start-30

Well, where I left off,  Jack who is the main character awoke to find his mother gone from where he last saw her.  He thought she may have gone outside, but still he could not find her.  He started into town and was about to ask around, but instead he asked where he could find a delicious brand of hot dog.  He started to look at the beach, then decided to go for a swim.  While doing that, he spotted a young buy and he seems to have befriended the boy and it appears they are staying at the same campsite.

So, here is where I left off, and where I start to make assumptions.  Earlier in the book he feared that his mother was in a very bad car crash because the car they were using was also gone.  I think he will see somewhere that there in fact was a car crash and he will do nothing but stay in his tent for a few days, then someone will come looking for him and they will claim to be his father.  It will actually turn out to be his biological father, but Jack will be reluctant to trust him.

After comforting Jack and helping him get over it with a little father son bonding, Jack will start to trust him.  Jack will go back to his fathers house and they will start to live together.  One day, Jack starts to get a suspicion that his father may not be telling him the whole truth.  That's when Jack starts to do some investigating and uncover that his father actually killed his mother.  Though accidental, Jack is still really mad.
