Poetry Reflection

Poetry does belong to everyone and poetry can sometimes have great importance in my own and everyones life.  Sometimes when I read a poem about a certain thing I do not necessarily  like and I start to see in a different light.  It may change my mind in how I see that thing.  It may make me start to like it, it may make me hate it even more.  This is not only for me either.  Some other people were inspired by poetry and wanted to take action in things like saving the planet, or helping out people in need.  Some people strive to live by quotes from poems because they found those words very powerful.

When we read “The Names”  I knew 911 was very bad, but I did not know how badly the aftermath on the emotional level was.  It brought me to a new level of understanding.  My eyes were opened to how people were affected.  Like things were completely different on how I saw how things were when the plane crashed into the twin towers because of “The Names”.   It changed my mind on how I saw things.

The other question I am going to answer is does poetry belong to everyone.  I think poetry does belong to everyone.  When I write poetry in Lit studies, we usually write to reflect or to educate others on something.  Then those people will learn what we wrote about.  Then the knowledge and the poem will keep spreading.  Poetry does not belong to a single person because it can be very inspiring and beautiful.

Like many things poetry is something that can change people’s mind or point of view.  One more reason why poetry belongs to everybody is because poetry is something that expresses feeling with other people.  That is very important because if you do not express yourself than nobody would know how you are feeling, then you will get upset if you are having a bad day and then somebody just starts dropping their problems on you.  Another reason about not expressing yourself is because if you just keep your feelings in then you will just be a hot mess.  So I believe poetry belongs to everybody and poetry has importance if everybody’s lives

The life experiences that a poet has had in their lives will affect what they write because of something they feel strongly about.  If they feel strongly about something that has happened in their lives than it is likely that they will write about it.  When they write about it they tend to explain why they chose to write about that and how this made them feel.

If they had those life experiences and they did not feel as strongly about it, they might not have written it in such a serious matter or in such a light hearted matter.  If they did not have a serious matter, then they would affect the mood and tone the poem would be in.

Another reason why the life experiences would affect the poem would be because if he or she would have a positive experience, then they would not be as serious as they would be as if they had a negative one.  Like if I had a bad experience happen to me, then I would be writing in a serious manner.  So yes, the life experience that the poet has had will affect what and how they will write the poem.
