Prompt: Describe the main characters
Pages 1-32
The first character I am going to describe is the character Simon. My first impression oh Simon is that he is a clumsy little kid who is always falling over. I get this impression because when we are first introduced to him he immediately falls face first into the sandy beach where I met him. When we me his leader from his land, he explained that he was always falling everywhere they go. Then when we get further into the book, another character brushes into him and he falls over completely. And why I think he is a little kid, is because I get the impression because he is shorter than the other two and they he is treated like a little kid.
The next character I am going to describe is Jack. When I first met Jack I thought he was going to be the bully of the story. The reason I felt this way was because he had a dark cloak and was acting like he was superior to all the rest of the kids. When he first appeared with Simon he was with a bunch of other kids and was acting as their leader. Then their was a vote to decide who was going to be leader he lost.
The final character I am going to describe is Ralph. He was the one who was voted the leader instead of Jack. He first appeared to be the one who was going to save them all. A few pages in he finds a conch shell and blows in it to find all the other kids stuck on the island with him. When he found them all he was voted the leader and he Jack and Simon went on an expedition to see if they were stranded on the island.

Prompt: Draw 4 objects that represent your reading. Write a sentence for each, telling
what each item says about what you’ve been reading.
Each of these objects I think were important to the chapters we read. To me they appeared to be key elements. O think this because they were talked about a lot.

The Giver
Prompt: Does the title fit the story? Why or why not?
I think the title of this story fits the story. One of the reasons I think this is because the community is giving all the things that are needed like their jobs and their children. They say that they do all of this because it will keep the peace and keep balance in the community with them assigning everything to them. Unlike our world where we get to pick almost everything that we do and work for. One thing we can't choose though is the kind of kids we have.
Another reason the title fits the story is that The Giver is giving the good and bad memories to Jonas. I think they have a "Receiver" to consult if things take a turn for the worst. So they could keep history from repeating itself like war and hunger. It also appears that Jonas is also a giver himself because he passed on a memorie to Gabriel. I wonder if he can can give any person memories.
One more reason that the story fits the title is that Jonas Gives people a sort of relief to their problems. An example of this is when Jonas helped his father and mother with taking care of their newchild. When the baby was crying in his room, Jonas gave a memory to the crying baby and he stopped crying and went to sleep. When he woke up the baby was crying again and Jonas gave him the rest of the memory. When morning came his mother and father said that they felt better now that they got to have some sleep. They decided that Gabe would sleep in Jonas's room from now on.

The Giver
Chapter 1-3
Prompt: Summarize
When I first started the story started in the month of late November. It opened on Jonas remembering the time when instead of a cargo ship, and fighter jet came to his community to take care of unknown business. He was instructed as well as the other kids were to drop their bikes where they were and to get inside a building. After that was over the day continued on like any other one. Jonas went home to his family for dinner that night. When they were eating that night, they shared their feelings for that night as always.
In the next chapter, Jonas found himself talking about the ceremony of the Ones. This ceremony was held for the naming and welcoming into the community, wich was held as a giant party. Also in this chapter, they first mentioned the Receiver who is the most important elder in the community. They have not yet mentioned what the Receiver's purpose so that makes me even more curious. At the end of the chapter three they talked a little more about Lily's volunteering.
In chapter four, Jonas went to volunteer for the first time we have seen him so far. he was told to go to the bath house to start his work. When he got inside, he saw his friend Asher, and a girl he knew, Fiona there. He started at his work which was washing the people at the Recovery center. As he began washing a old woman, he started to remember what he saw last night which was his father washing his new little brother gently
and applied the situation here.

House Of Hades
Prompt: Summarize
Pages: 440-583
During the first few pages that I read, the young heroes were in a spot of trouble. As Percy and Annabeth approached the doors of death, a manifestation of Tartarus, which was the land they were walking on, appeared to stop Percy and Annabeth. When he first appeared all the monsters nearby and the two heroes froze with shock and disbelief. He destroyed everything in his path on his way to kill the two. As he approached them, Bob, their Titan friend stepped forth and tried to distract Tartarus. His spear appeared in his hand, and his little skeleton kitten pet grew into a saber tooth tiger pet. They attacked endlessly while Percy and Annabeth made their way to the doors. When they got there another friend of theirs came to the rescue and The titan held the door for percy and annabeth.
While Percy and Annabeth were passing through the doors of death, their friend on the top world were on their way to greet them at the doors of death. They had to pass through The House Of Hades to get to the doors of death. When they entered, they were greeted by many enemies and had a long battle with them. When they finished with them they had to go through a maze of tunnels to reach their friends at the doors of death. When they got to the doors of death they were met by a sorceress that Hazel, one of the heroes, had to overcome to save their friends.
as Hazel and the sorceress battled, the godess of magic appeared to join the fight, as the sorceress they were fighting was her Nemesis. When the sorceress started to make a maze, Hazel had to make illusions of even worse fates so the sorceress would let her guard down. When she did, all of the heroes struck and defeated her. When the battle was over their friends Percy and Annabeth stepped out and everybody was rejoined in the top
world.

House Of Hades
Prompt: Summarize the story
Pages: 324-437
In the first few pages of where I left off in my book two of the heroes, Percy and Annabeth were on their way to the doors of death in the worst part of the underworld called Tartarus. That evil place is for the worst people like the Titans or slain monsters to reform. Anyway, they were on their way with their guide to the underworld, A TITAN! Although this Titan, was a Titan who was a friend to Percy because he wiped his memory. Of course the Titan did not remember this. So on their way they were and they found this altar of Hermes, the messenger god. The altar was directly liked to Hermes offerings that was coming through from their Camp Half Blood which was a camp for people like Percy and Annabeth.
So after they ate the food from the camp that was offered to Hermes. After their meal, they continued their journey and had a fight with manifestations of the curses that were over their heads that all the defeated monsters cast on Percy. Each time they killed one, the curse was unleashed. Each Percy and Annabeth almost died from the fight with all the curses. Although Annabeth was eventually fine, Percy was poisoned with Gorgons blood, the worst poison known ever. They took him to a giants hut in Tartarus and he healed Percy and gave them food and clothes. After that they had to go to get a cloaking spell on them to shield them from the all monsters senses at the doors because there was going to be so many of them. The lady who bestowed this on them turned on them and tried to kill them.
After a little ways journey, they came to their destination which was the Doors Of Death. While they were there, they were scared so much if they didn't already look dead from the death mist, they would look dead from fright. As they approached the center of the mob, a Titan stopped them to greet the Titan percy and Annabeth was traveling with. They are brothers in fact, and the evil Titan was helping the friendly one recall the memories they had with each other. When they were done they approached the doors of death and met two other Titans that they had to distract.

House Of Hades
Pages 224-268
List at least three problems the characters faced? Which was
the most life
changing? Explain
In my book so far Percy has faced many challenges that could have killed him. One of them is when he was being attacked by five monsters. They were some that he killed years ago but he went to the place where they reformed and he had an encounter with them. They were green with long fangs and huge talon like claws. Luckily, at the last second an old friend came to rescue him.
Another challenge he has faced was the point when he was falling into the underworld and barely survived. He called upon the water of the underworld and it broke his fall. Though with doing this he almost lost his memory. The water was cursed and would wipe the memory of anything. He saw his whole life play in slow motion when he was in the water.
This is the third and most deadly because it brings the curses of many monsters down on him. All the monsters he fought, cursed him and it took the form of an ugly winged creature. Each one he killed unleashed a new curse on him. In the end of the battle he was poisoned and was only healed a little bit. The poison was still in him and he slowly started to die.
